The One Who Comes For Us All
I look down at my lifeless body
an empty carcass, broken and soddy
This is not the way I was supposed to go
not yet, not like this, not now
A pale young woman stares keenly at me
black hair wild and down to her knee
Eyes dark pools of empathy and mischief
her essence radiates timeless dignity
She reaches her hand out to me
and a voice as mysterious as a sea
echoes far and wide
”It is your time”
”This is how you wanted to see me
I become whatever people choose me to be
For the tiniest of babies, I'm the heartbeat of their mothers
whereas I'm something entirely different for many others”
”You dwell on this planet until the time is right
Some are ready earlier, some take their time
Some live their lives good, others don't
but in the end, it matters not”
”Here you take the first fumbling steps as the seed that is you
And now is the time to see what it is you need to do”
I take her hand and gasp, the things I see!
Nothing prepared me to feel this free
She delights at my surprise giddily grinning
”Yes, this is hardly the end. It is the beginning.”
