The Ocean

I miss the ocean Where legions of waves stubbornly attack the unyielding bedrock and retreat defeated but not resigned Where the smell of salt and dried up seaweed is the perfume of summers long gone Where the ancient stone patiently endures campfires soles of all sizes enthusiastic off-key singing and homespun music Where children build miniature worlds into rainwater-filled natural bowls and get lost in it for hours and hours Where the wind whispers soothing words rinses your mind and fills it with welcomed flood

of emptiness
