The Emptiness
Embattled hungered emptiness
colours the bleak horizon*
What was once there
is gone
The parchment of humanity
forever burned
Ashes scatter
across a hollow shell
All dreams, promises and hopes
evaporated
The raw, tender surface
sighs the dying whispers
of million souls
then shudders
the last tremors
of a dying planet
A death struggle
nobody believed possible
But here it is
a futile battle against arrhythmia
One last desperate attempt
at a steady pulse
until finally
surrender
and the Solar System
is quiet once more
Mankind has been quenched
Dead planets
continue
on their merry-go-round
Alone
barren
and unseen
